When you consider talc is a mineral, most make-up could technically be considered 'mineral make-up' even if they contain as little as 1% mineral. But in 2006 we saw a shift in the cosmetics market, when Australian husband and wife team, Callum and Taleen Young, released the concept of 100% pure natural mineral cosmetics.
This sparked a global 'mineral make-up' explosion, with new brands popping up all over the place touting the 100% mineral concept. From The Body Shop, Clinique, Nude by Nature and Claytime Australia to Max Factor and Natural Minerals, everyone was jumping on the bandwagon.
Now we're reaping the benefits: mineral make up reflects sunlight so it hides a multitude of sins, from fine lines and wrinkles to crows feet, giving a lightweight, glowing finish that's flawless without feeling 'caked on', oily or pore-blocking.
